路透社报道，在旧养老金计划与国家养老金计划的政治斗争中，印度政府官员周三表示，他们正在考虑对新的与市场挂钩的养老金计划进行一些调整，该计划将确保员工的最低养老金达到其最后工资的40%-45%。然而，官员们明确表示，“我们不会回到旧的养老金制度。”

　　随着国民养老金计划的改变和最低保障养老金的40%-45%，政府正试图在政治和经济之间取得平衡。政府雇员的养老金占了联邦预算的很大一部分。

　　在旧养老金计划(OPS)框架中，印度政府保证雇员最后一次领取工资的50%的固定养老金。此外，员工在工作期间不需要缴纳任何养老金。

　　鉴于联邦预算的沉重财政负担，政府于2004年推出了国家养老金计划，该计划要求雇员缴纳基本工资的10%，政府缴纳14%。路透社的报道解释说，养老金将取决于养老金的回报，其中大部分投资于联邦债务。

　　政府对国民养老金计划的重新考虑可能是出于政府雇员的担忧，以及需要另一种方式来确保印度的养老金计划在财政上可持续。
